Name: Steve Hindy

Day job: Chairman, Brooklyn Brewery

What you would do if you weren’t doing your day job: Write a book about my Syrian grandfather.

One food or drink you couldn’t live without: Beer, duh.

What do you have great taste in? I have great taste in clothing, thanks to my wife Ellen Foote.

What do you have bad taste in? I’m a bit behind in music. My favorites are The Hold Steady and Warren Zevon. I like stories.

Who, to you, is an influential tastemaker and why? Our brewmaster, Garrett Oliver.

How do you expand and refine your sense of taste? I listen to Garrett, and Ellen. I travel, and eat everything.

What is the best-tasting thing you’ve ever eaten? A cup of ramen on the snowy shoulder of Grand Teton.

What does taste mean to you? Taste means never having to say you are sorry.
