How's this for a Little Sumpin' Sumpin'? The circus is coming to town, and the ringmasters just happen to be our good friends at Lagunitas Brewing Company. Not only did the infamously irreverent suds purveyors already bring their epic, third annual Beer Circus back to Chicago (the site of their 6000,000 barrel satellite brewery), but they're taking their spectacular, high-flying, and yes, booze-fueled act on the road this October, with planned pit stops in their home base of Petaluma on the 15th, as well as Azusa, California (which will eventually house their third brewery) on the 22nd, and Brooklyn, New York on October 1st. Rocking a decidedly adult theme (that means 21 and over, people), each event will couple freaktacular entertainment (including 100+ circus and burlesque acts, such as bearded ladies, bat boys, strong men, merpeople, good clowns, bad clowns, and general buffoonery), with carnival rides, live music, souvenir schwag, food trucks, and of course, lots and lots and lots and LOTS OF BEER.

Think local craft mainstays and Lagunitas favorites, including: the strongman of IPAs, Maximus; plus Czech-style Pils; the expectations-defying Sucks; dark, thick and scary Imperial Stout; and DayTime Fractional IPA (we're going to suggest that for safety purposes, you give an extra-wide berth to the fire eaters). And bless the sainted folks at Lagunitas, as they're not solely in this for simply a soused and debauched good time. Each Beer Circus actually benefits a local non-profit, with proceeds from beer sales supporting the Alliance for Coney Island in Brooklyn (which only makes sense, considering the shindig's taking place at the MCU Stadium Lot), along with the Petaluma Music Festival, PAWS Chicago (what's better than downing pilsner for the welfare of shelter puppies?) and LAUNCH LA — a Cali-based arts organization — in Azusa. So get over your irrational childhood fear of clowns, nab a ticket to the Beer Circus in your nearest city, and get ready to see things you can't un-see — even through an impenetrable set of beer goggles.
